Diligent Launches Record-Breaking R&D Investment

2025. 02. 13.

Diligent has surpassed South Korea’s Samsung SDI, which initiated a EUR 61.9 million project in 2023, making the American company's investment the largest R&D project managed by HIPA. Following the announcement, the software development and service provider will expand its Budapest operations by 124 new jobs. The EUR 93.6 million investment will focus on enhancing Diligent’s Grace platform for GRC, audit, and ESG solutions.

Diligent is a leading SaaS provider specializing in GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) solutions. Its software solutions support over 700,000 leaders across 25,000 organizations in 130 countries by improving management processes, control systems, and information sharing.

Following the establishment of its Budapest R&D center in 2021, Diligent at the moment employs  450 professionals in software development, governance platform development, IT services, technical support, and web development for quality assurance in the Hungarian capital.

With AI revolutionizing governance, risk management, and compliance practices, Diligent’s Budapest team is not only keeping pace with the industry but also pioneering AI-powered innovations that are shaping its future.

Guided by its commitment to excellence, Diligent has chosen Hungary once again for its latest EUR 93.6 million investment to develop the Grace platform in Budapest. The platform enables clients to manage governance, audit, risk, ESG, and compliance requirements more efficiently. This investment will create over 120 high-value-added jobs at Diligent.

This announcement marks a significant milestone in U.S.-Hungarian economic relations and in HIPA's history, as Diligent's new project represents the largest R&D investment ever managed by the agency.

American companies rank as the fourth-largest group of investors in Hungary. According to the Central Bank of Hungary (MNB), U.S. foreign direct investments (FDI) totaled nearly USD 9 billion in 2022, making up 8.6% of the total FDI stock. From 2014 to 2024, HIPA supported 140 investment decisions involving U.S. companies, representing a combined value of approximately HUF 820 billion.
