4900 square metres production and storage building inaugurated in Pécs as the first step of the 20 year old Honsa's newest investment of EUR 10 million. Thanks to the Hungarian unit, the German company has become a dominant entity in the field of automotive loadfloors and parcel-shelves and complete trunk systems, producing 4 million products yearly.
Koller group, owned by Chinese investors and founded in Germany, develops and produces primarily light-weight components of composite materials. Their products are used for platforms in the automotive industry, for package shelves, wet pressed and moulded components, but the company also produces tools and appliances.
The company has been active in Hungary for 20 years with the Honsa plant in Pécs, the group's largest production plant and one of its most important pillars. Honsa has greatly contributed to the success of the group, making it a market leading automotive manufacturer in Europe in the area of package cover sheets, supplying among others to BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, and the Volkswagen group.
The new hall constructed for HUF 1.9 billion is a part of the capacity expansion investment amounting to a total of HUF 3.2 billion, and the eighth hall of the company. The building group now inaugurated is a production- and storage building of 4900 square metres with a headroom of 12 metres. At the new, highly automated site, complete automotive trunk systems will be produced through trilaminate technology, i.e. forming the shape of the product by pressing a three-component material, and using water cut and ultrasonic welding of parts to achieve the final, precise form of the trunk system. Furthermore, rear shelves for Porsche will also be produced by a new carpeting process, facilitating the creation of further jobs.
