Leading contact lens manufacturer US company continues to expand in Hungary

CooperVision, a unit of The Cooper Companies, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of soft contact lenses. The US company has today announced plans for an EUR 24 million expansion of its manufacturing and distribution facility in Gyál. The implementation of several new IT systems will establish the site as one of the most advanced, state-of-the-art facilities throughout CooperVision globally.

CooperVision produces a full array of monthly, two-week and daily disposable contact lenses, all featuring advanced materials and optics. CooperVision has a strong heritage of solving the toughest vision challenges such as astigmatism and presbyopia; and offers the most complete collection of spherical, toric and multifocal products available. Through a combination of innovative products and focused practitioner support, the company brings a refreshing perspective to the marketplace, creating real advantages for customers and wearers.

The Gyál unit of the company has been continously developed in the past period. The most recent two-year expansion will include a 30% increase in space within the facility, together with the establishment of a new distribution facility to service the Hungarian and other central European markets. Investments in manufacturing equipment will expand production of CooperVision's Clariti® brand of lenses to meet surging worldwide demands, whilst automation improvements will increase capacities on other existing lines. The implementation of several new IT systems will establish the site as one of the most advanced, state-of-the-art facilities throughout CooperVision globally.

The expansion will also generate a significant number of new jobs in the local area, in addition to training improvements with current staff to increase skill levels as the facility integrates new technologies and systems.
