Manufacturing launched in the most modern European plant of the GMD Group in Dorog - VIDEO REPORT

The transformation of the previously acquired manufacturing hall has been completed and the production has been launched in the Hungarian plant of the GMD Group. The aluminium casting plant of the French automotive supplier established in Dorog by an investment worth EUR 47 million – which is at the same time the most modern and most efficient European plant of the company – will attain its full capacity still in 2019 and further developments are also envisaged for the future.
The GMD Group manufactures metal and plastic parts and components mainly for the automotive industry but also for other sectors. They are engaged in pressing, injection moulding, thermoforming, aluminium melting and metal casting operations but they manufacture seals as well. In addition to manufacturing, their business portfolio also includes the design and development of automobile and other engineering components, primarily in relation to steering gear, switches and engine components. The France-based Group currently employs some 5,500 people worldwide and its turnover is expected to exceed EUR 1 billion this year.
GMD Cast Hungary that implements the announced investment was founded in 2017 in Hungary and later it launched the project by acquiring the manufacturing hall located in the Industrial Park of Dorog, which was formerly used by the Japanese companies Sanyo and Panasonic. The transformation of the building has been completed by this year, the manufacturing lines and the casting facilities are joining in the production in a continuous manner. According to the plans of the French Group, the automobile component manufacturing plant in Dorog will be the largest among all the plants of the casting branch of the GMD Group, and at the same time their most modern and most efficient, highly robotized plant in Europe. Thanks to the investment amounting to more than EUR 47 million, 240 new jobs will be created, mainly for highly qualified specialised professionals and technicians.
