The Hungarian Business Services sector is known for being super crisis-proof: up to 10,000 were added to the payroll even during the pandemic. But what does such extraordinary dynamics have to do with, and how can so many companies successfully find enough skilled workers in a job market where the hunt for talent gets fiercer by the day? We asked Veronika Spanarova, Managing Director and Country Head for Hungary at Citi to share her thoughts on the topic who, in her capacity as Board Member-at-Large of AmCham Hungary, also elaborated on the crucial contribution AmCham has got to offer when it comes to improving the competitiveness of the country.
Business Service Centers shine like never before around here as evidenced by the latest statistics. As the 2023 edition of HIPA’s BSC Survery showcases – which by the way wasn’t out at the time of the recording –, the number of such centers has surpassed the 200 mark, and by now over 100,000 are employed by them – a 43% growth compared to 2021. Running the second largest BSC in the country, Citi has vast expertise in judging what it comes down to be able to set up and constantly expand such a strategic hub.
According to our guest, Veronika Spanarova, Managing Director and Country Head for Hungary at Citi it’s obvious that there’s an incredible number of talented people in specialized professions in Hungary, and therefore “we can see all these foreign companies growing their presence here and building on that talent pool.”
The story of Citi Solutions Center shows perfectly how functions can evolve and innovation plays an ever bigger role in the operation. “The segment is well-positioned which attracts many new players and also those that are already here to consider bringing more functions to the country,” Ms. Spanarova notes.
